Please be sure to return to the 2012 News & Updates page to be kept up to speed on the latest happenings as we push forward to the conference.
Tomorrow, October 14, 2012 we will start accepting abstract submission from presenters, until that time, the Call for Abstracts page will not be live and will return a 404 error.
The 13th International FX Conference is a five-day educational opportunity for families and individuals impacted by Fragile X and for professionals – physicians, scientists, clinicians, therapists and educators – from the Fragile X and intellectual disabilities fields. The event will be held at the InterContinental Miami. Set in the heart of the city’s thriving financial and business district, this grand downtown Miami hotel offers richly appointed accommodations and breathtaking views of Biscayne Bay. This years event is hosted by the Florida Fragile X Families.

I am very excited to attend the 13th International Fragile X Conference. I am sure I will be loaded with detailed information on Fragile X Syndrome.. Gulin Isık Mother of two adult Frax children
I would like to say that the hotel that is hosting the conference that for 4 nights is over 500.00 and that doesn’t include the meals and the airfare (for folks that are flying to the conference). That is an estimated over a 1,000. Personally I am looking at other hotels at a reasonable price. I have suggested that for future conferences that they include other hotels that people can stay during the conference and also where it is close to save on airfare. I am sorry to have to say this (I hope that I didn’t offend anyone) -if I did please accept my apology and that I will be careful about what I say. I am not sure if I will be attending the next conference.
Greetings,
Something to keep in mind, the NFXF does work with the hotel to get the room prices discounted. A Kind bed at the InterContinental usually runs about $180 per night. The prices for the conference block is $117 which is at least a 35% discount. The NFXF does offer some Ways to Save (http://www.fragilex.org/community/international-fragile-x-conference/miami2012/ways-to-save/). A few others may have some advice on trying to get local support as well.
Speaking as a parent who attended his first conference in 2010, it is an investment, but I look at it as an investment in my families future. We learned some much from all of the amazing FX experts and also made some great connections with other families that there really isn’t a price tag on it.
When will there be a conference on the West Coast? It has been WAYtoo long. Chicago, Detroit, DC, Miami, somewhere in Georgia, but no West Coast.
Hello, it says to save by getting a roommate but the date says to check November 2012…
Greetings Pekka,
We are adding some features to the site that will allow for people to find roommates easily. This feature will be released mid-November.
