The National Fragile X Foundation is pleased to announce the 2013 recipients of The Justin Silver Award for Innovative Services. Established by the Silver Family in honor of their son Justin, these grants are awarded to innovative projects at  that support historically underserved populations, giving the clinics and the families that visit them opportunities to work closer together. Brian Silver currently serves on the NFXF .

Here are the 2013 recipients of the Justin Silver Award for Innovative Services:

Lower Rio Grande Valley Project: $7,500 Grant

The Fragile X Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Baylor College of Medicine
Lead Investigators: Diane Treadwell-Deering, MD and Sherry Sellers Vinson, MD

African American Fragile X Outreach Project: $5,000 Grant

The Emory Fragile X Clinic in the Department of Human Genetics, School of Medicine at Emory University
Principal Investigator: Lillie Huddleston, PhD
Co-Investigators: Co-Investigators Jeannie Visootsak, MD, Krista Charen, MPH, and Stephanie Sherman, PhD

Upon the conclusion of each project, results-based reports will be shared with other Fragile X clinics and then added to the FXCRC online knowledge base. In addition to sharing their results with the broader community, project researchers will present an oral or poster presentation of their findings at the NFXF International Fragile X Conference.

*The  continues to assist families with expenses related to receiving care at Fragile X clinics.
