SPECIAL MOMENT
I wanted to
share a special moment with you. Yesterday, Sande
and I went to the Bala Cynwyd Middle School in
Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania to see the
promotion ceremony from 8th grade to high school.
There were about 250 graduates and about 1000 on-lookers.
As they are reading special "Honors",
they call Matthew up to receive the Howard I. Kline Award
"Presented annually to the eight grade
pupil who,in the opinion of the faculty, has to the
best of his/her ability, demonstrated outstanding
courage and has expressed an exemplary attitude in
overcoming difficulties while attending our school."
Both Sande and I cried. Many people
at school know Matthew because of the Gold Medals
he earned in the Special Olympics events and the
applause was very loud. He was so pleased going up
to receive the award. I wanted to share this special
moment with you. It is yet another example of the
fact that we all have something to "give" despite
what our limitations might be.
