CFXF REPRESENTED AT PARENT ENRICHMENT DAY

Julia Mondaizie-Paul and Randy Green represented Conquer Fragile X Foundation at the Broward County School's Parent Enrichment Day at the Fort Lauderdale Airport Hilton on Saturday, October 13. The event's theme this year was "Family Empowerment, Linking Home, School and Community." Randy and Julia presented an informational display about fragile X that attracted the interest of many other parents and educators. Claudia Herzog also attended the function as a parent of an exceptional student. At the end of the day, Julia was the grand prize winner of the raffle, leaving with a lovely basket of goodies. Events such as this are necessary to continue to raise the level of awareness of fragile X, particularly in our schools. Thank you, ladies, for your hard work.

FAMILY DAY OUTING A HUGE SUCCESS

The first Fragile X Family Day, held Saturday, Sept. 15 was a tremendous success. This very special day was organized by our Parent Group Leader Coordinator, Randy Green and was held at the beautiful beachfront property of one of our families, the Herzogs. Thirty-eight people, representing eight families from Jupiter, Florida to Miami, attended as guests of our hosts. The children swam in the ocean and the pool, parents relaxed and chatted, and everyone had a wonderful lunch. Opportunities like this one, that allow fragile X families to be among friends - where no explanations are necessary - are rare, but very much appreciated. The South Florida Parent Group plans to make this an annual event. Our sincere thanks to Randy, the Herzogs and all our wonderful families.
